DramaBox is hiring a Video Editor in New York to cut vertical drama series and short-form narrative content. This is a hybrid, full-time role focused on hands-on editing from rough cuts through final delivery, working closely with the Lead Editor and creative team. Position Overview
This is a creative editing role with real ownership over how the final product looks and feels. You'll support the full post pipeline from footage organization and assembly builds through scene edits, teasers, social cutdowns, and polished final cuts. You'll add temp sound, music, captions, and light motion graphics where needed, and prepare everything for vertical platform delivery. The pace is fast and the volume is high, but you'll have direct collaboration with producers, directors, and the Lead Editor to keep creative consistency locked in.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all stages of post-production for vertical drama series and short-form narrative content
- Ingest, organize, and sync footage while maintaining efficient media management workflows
- Build rough cuts, string-outs, and edits following creative direction from the Lead Editor
- Cut scenes, teasers, and social cutdowns under Lead Editor supervision
- Add temp sound, music, captions, and light motion graphics as needed
- Prepare and deliver content optimized for vertical formats across social platforms
- Work closely with producers, editors, and directors to maintain creative consistency
- Manage version control and assist with quality control checks on all final exports
- Keep pace with fast delivery schedules without sacrificing quality
- Stay current on vertical storytelling trends, editing styles, and platform best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 1 to 3 years of video editing or post-production experience, ideally in vertical content
- Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro; After Effects or DaVinci Resolve experience is a plus
- Familiarity with AI-powered editing tools and workflows including automatic transcription, smart selects, AI-assisted color, or generative post tools
- Strong grasp of vertical video composition, pacing, and storytelling for mobile audiences
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple edits and deadlines at once
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable in a high-volume creative environment
- Genuine passion for narrative storytelling and emerging content formats
- Must be authorized to work in the United States with no visa sponsorship needed
Preferred
- Experience cutting short-form narrative or social-first video content
- Understanding of current platform algorithms and distribution best practices
- Working knowledge of sound design, color correction, or VFX
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Compensation and Benefits
$70,000 to $85,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance plus 401(k).
