Assistant Editor

DramaBox is hiring an Assistant Editor in New York to support their post-production team across their vertical drama slate. This is a hybrid, full-time role covering the full editorial and finishing pipeline, from media ingest through final delivery.

Company Overview

DramaBox is one of the major players in the vertical drama space globally, producing mobile-first series out of hubs in Los Angeles, New York, and Asia. They offer a large on-demand library of episodic content built for mobile consumption and are expanding rapidly in the U.S. as vertical storytelling becomes one of the fastest-growing formats in digital entertainment.

Position Overview

This is a technical and creative support role embedded in the post-production team. You'll work alongside lead and junior editors handling everything from footage organization and sequence prep to assembly edits, finishing, QC, and final delivery. The role also doubles as a Finishing Assistant Editor, which means you'll own conforms, delivery prep, subtitle embedding, and platform spec verification. They specifically want someone comfortable with AI-driven post tools for things like transcription, caption generation, and workflow automation. It's a solid entry point for someone with a year or two of post experience who wants to grow inside a high-volume vertical drama operation.

  • Ingest, sync, and organize footage while maintaining clean project file structures and metadata
  • Prepare sequences for editorial, color, sound mix, and VFX handoffs
  • Perform assembly edits, temporary color adjustments, and basic audio leveling
  • Serve as Finishing Assistant Editor handling final conforms, quality control, and delivery preparation
  • Export final masters, apply LUTs, embed subtitles, and verify deliverables meet platform specifications
  • Coordinate with post sound and color teams to ensure accurate handoffs and version tracking
  • Maintain organized archives and backups of all projects and assets
  • Use AI tools to streamline workflows including smart sync, transcription, caption generation, and creative assists
  • Stay current with vertical content trends, editing techniques, and emerging AI post-production tools
  • Troubleshoot post-related issues and support the team through tight turnarounds

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 1 to 2 years of post-production experience, ideally in vertical content
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve; After Effects or Pro Tools experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of post color, sound, and the finishing process
  • Familiarity with AI-powered editing tools like Runway, Descript, Pika, or Adobe Sensei for automation, subtitles, and post optimization
  • Solid technical grasp of codecs, file formats, color spaces, and delivery standards
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to adapt in a fast-paced production environment

Preferred

  • Prior experience as a finishing or assistant editor
  • Knowledge of media delivery specs and compression best practices
  • Comfort using AI tools for captioning, transcription, and workflow automation
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Genuine enthusiasm for new storytelling formats and evolving post-production technology
