Writer/Screenwriter

Inkitt is looking for a Screenwriter to join the CandyJarTV production team and help build out its vertical microdrama catalog. You will write and adapt one complete script every five weeks, working closely with the founder to develop story logic, sharpen narrative consistency, and push creative quality forward. This is a highly collaborative role that sits at the intersection of traditional screenwriting and AI-assisted production, and it calls for someone who knows how to write romance that hits hard in short form and can move fast without sacrificing the craft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and adapt one vertical microdrama script every five weeks, delivering complete, production-ready episodes on a consistent cycle
  • Craft fast-paced dialogue and scene construction that leans into romance tropes, dramatic tension, and cliffhangers built specifically for vertical mobile viewing
  • Collaborate directly with the founder to develop and refine scripts, incorporating AI tools to improve story logic and narrative consistency
  • Work cross-functionally with development, AI production, and marketing teams to build story moments that drive engagement, retention, and shareability
  • Iterate quickly on feedback, revising scripts and adapting storylines while holding the creative line on quality and meeting production deadlines
  • Help develop episodic story arcs and structural frameworks that keep mobile-first audiences coming back episode after episode

Requirements

  • Proven experience writing scripts for vertical microdrama, short-form episodic content, or comparable mobile-first formats (writing samples required with submission)
  • Deep command of romance tropes and enemies-to-lovers dynamics, with a clear understanding of pacing in cliffhanger-driven storytelling
  • Exceptional dialogue writing skills, particularly for emotionally charged, addictive exchanges that land in a mobile viewing context
  • Ability to revise and adapt quickly under feedback while maintaining narrative clarity and emotional momentum
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in a fast-moving, highly iterative creative environment
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the evolving relationship between AI and storytelling

Benefits

401(k); medical, dental, and vision coverage; professional coaching for all employees; annual team trip to Tulum; unlimited access to the Galatea and CandyJarTV apps; unlimited self-development book budget; charity donation of your choice at your one-year anniversary; free daily lunch in the office; ClassPass membership (US) or gym access (Berlin); dog-friendly offices.
