Writer/Screenwriter

TikTok is hiring a Script Planning & Evaluation Manager to run the sourcing, evaluation, and localization pipeline for short drama scripts aimed at overseas markets. This sits within their Short Drama Team, which focuses on producing and localizing content for global TikTok audiences.

Position Overview

This role owns the script pipeline. You'll be responsible for finding, evaluating, and planning original short drama scripts with accountability for overall output volume. That means building sourcing channels, maintaining relationships with top screenwriters, refining how scripts get graded and priced, and streamlining the contracting and settlement processes. On the creative side, you'll dig into audience consumption patterns and adapt scripts for localization so the content actually lands with overseas viewers. It's a blend of content operations, talent management, and market strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the sourcing, evaluation, and planning of original short drama scripts with ownership over total script output volume
  • Build multiple channels for finding high-quality scripts suited to overseas markets and develop and maintain a network of top-tier screenwriting talent
  • Refine script grading standards and pricing structures while optimizing production, contracting, and settlement workflows to improve quality and cost efficiency
  • Study short drama audience preferences and consumption patterns to guide localization adaptation, making content more resonant across different markets

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with relevant experience in content operations or scriptwriting; overseas short drama experience preferred
  • Strong internal collaboration and external communication skills with professional-level English proficiency
  • Deep familiarity with trending short drama content, ability to break down what makes hits work, and genuine insight into the overseas short drama industry and market demand
  • Actor service awareness is a plus; candidates familiar with short drama content or short drama talent management will be prioritized

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range of $88,920 to $209,380 annually depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and restricted stock units. Day-one benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, life insurance, and wellbeing benefits. 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, and 17 days of paid personal time annually.
